What is the difference between Wusthof Classic and Gourmet type knives?
My husband wants a Wusthof knife set for Christmas. There are several types of Wusthof knives. The Classic and Gourmet appear to be the best. The Classic is much more expensive however. What is the difference between the two?
It really depends on how much he plans on using them.
Knives are sort of a personal thing. It depends on how they feel in your hand and wrist.
Wusthof is a well known brand but not necessarily the best for your husband.
There are some really excellent knives by companies no one has ever heard of. There are some really decent Chinese knives, too.
If you can find a knife shop, take him to it and have him test out the knives. He may find that Wusthof isn’t a good ‘fit’ for him.
I have a mix of old Chicago Cutlery, a Scandinavian brand and a couple of Henkels.
