Where can I store empty beer and wine bottles to prevent fruit flies?
I have just recently gotten a bunch of fruit flies in my kitchen and I know they like the empty beer and wine bottles. I do wash each one when its empty but they are still attracted to it. What can I do or where can I store the emptys to get rid of and prevent them from coming back?
1. Leave out a bottle or bowl with cider or balsamic vinegar in it near the empties.
2. Cover the top of the bottle/bowl with plastic wrap.
3. Poke several holes in the top of the wrap.
The idea is that the flies will be more attracted to the vinegar smell than the beer. Hopefully, they fly in and drown. This should work .
Also, storing the empties in the garage or on the porch will keep the flies out of your kitchen.
