The Samsung S3100 Is Now Available In White
A white colour variant of Samsung’s S3100 is now available. A basic phone, this slider handset is ideal for those looking for a phone to carry out simple functions on an everyday use basis, or simply as a spare handset.
Measuring 95x47x14x9mm this handset weighs only 99.2 grams so is comfortable to use on the go. The 2.1 inch TFT screen displays 256,000 colours at 176×220 pixels for decent clarity and colour representation on the screen.
A variety of media files can be set as ringtones. MP3 and WAV can be assigned as ringtones whilst there is also the option to download polyphonic ringtones. All of these functions work in conjunction with standard vibration so users are still alerted to incoming calls and messages when the phone is set to silent. For hands free communication, a speakerphone is built into the phone, and this features DNSe (Digital Natural Sound Engine) for improved sound quality.
The phonebook in the S3100 can store up to 1000 contacts and features the useful photocall function. 15MB of internal storage can store a few media files, but the presence of a micro SD slot means that up to 8GB can be made available by installing a larger memory card.
Class 10 versions of both EDGE and GPRS provide the S3100 White with connection to it’s primary networks. Bluetooth v2.1 allows users to share files with friends provided they have a compatible handset and are in the same location. This method of file sharing is free of charge and efficient. As a means by which to connect the phone to a computer, v2.0 USB is present. When the phone is connected to a computer, functions can be carried out such as backing up contact info or transferring media files.
The camera is only 1.3 mega pixels, but this also features the ability to shoot video adding to the versatility of the handset.
The media player supports MP3 and MP4 music and video files respectively, with additional entertainment options including a range of pre-installed games with the option to download extra games if required, and a FM radio player.
Extra features such as an organiser, T9 and voice memo add to the everyday functionality of the handset. Whilst this is no Smart phone, it was never the intention of Samsung. Instead the S3100 caters for those looking for simple functionality in an aesthetically pleasing handset.
