Is it safe to heat food in plastics containers like Tupperware’s Vent and Serve?
Do toxic chemicals leak out into the food when warmed in plastic containers? I’ve always thought glass was best. And my dishwasher says if plasticware falls on the heating element and starts to smoke, to air out and evacuate the house temporarily because the smoke is toxic. So theoretically, isn’t plastic that gets hot a bad thing? Also, will soup leak out if I use a Vent & Store container to carry it to work in my back pack?
I do it all the time when i’m lazy. But i don’t leave it in there for long periods of time especially if i know it can’t stand the heat. Plastic is plastic. If the plastic melts on your food don’t eat it. Better safe then sorry.
