How to get Vaseline out of towels and the washing machine!?
My 4 year old got into the Vaseline. She then wiped it all over every single towel in the linen closet. I discovered this very late at night and not thinking just threw them into the washer. Well surprise! It is still there, after 3 washings, and the washing machine is covered in sludge.
I have read about what to do before you wash it, but what about after?
Sorry for laughing; but my son did that (about the same age) and greased his hair back, did his whole face and his father’s stereo speakers. I must have washed his hair 6 times with Dawn dish detergent to get it out!
Try dishwasher detergent, yes, the stuff you use in the dishwasher. One load size amount per load. Hot water and the longest cycle. You can use your fabric softener. Don’t use Dawn in the washer; it creates too many suds.
If that doesn’t cut it (no pun intended), then get some Simple Green. Non-toxic, biodegradable, smells nice too. Highly concentrated. If your machine is an HE machine 1/4 cup will be plenty. Once again, hot water and longest cycle. Simple Green is so concentrated that 1 gallon makes 64 gallons of all purpose cleaner. It’s great on any kind of grease.
