I want to bake a layered cake, but have only one round pan, the directions says use 2, what should I do?
Should I fill the pan with all the batter (I know it’s big enough) OR bake half of the batter and then the other half when the first cake is ready?

If you know the pan is large enough, bake all the batter and then after the cake cools, carefully slice it horizontally.
I also only have one round pan (8 in) , but when I want to make a layer cake, I bake part of the mixture in the round pan, and then the other part ( slightly more than half) in a square pan that’s slightly larger ( 9 in) and then I use the round cake as a “pattern” to trim the square one, that way I also get “samples”.
