double-angle steel lintel sizes for block wall openings?
i need to know what size lintels are in my block wall over my windows. they are double-angle steel, but i don’t know the size requirements for different spans. the wall is 4x8x16 block, built in 1947. one window is 6′x4′, and the rest are 3′ x 4′. i really don’t want to bust into my wall to find out. anyone?
by double-angle stell lintel, i mean two back-to-back angle iron.
double angle steel. I think you mean channel iron. In 1947 every thing was still short, so no telling what thickness you might have. Probably what ever size the builder could get his hands on that day. If it hasn`t bowed down or rusted out by now I would not worry about it. By now its probably the strongest part of your house.
