Clayton State University Offers Multiple Curricular Features
Public university located in Morrow, Georgia in United States, Clayton State University has enrollment of around 6,785 students and is part of Georgia’s university system. Multiple curricular and extracurricular activities like music, sports and others are unique features of the university that makes it stand out in the crowd. Brief Background Founded in 1969, the university was originally named as Clayton Junior College. It received the senior college status in 1986 with the introduction of the four year courses. It was given university status in 1996 by Georgia Board of Regents. In the year 2005 the institute finally had the name of Clayton State University. Presently the university offers 8 masters degree programs as well as 40 baccalaureate degrees. It also opened its first housing campus for students in 2008. Campus Features Main campus of the university is located covering 163 acres of wooded area. Several ponds as well as lakes exist in the area and the campus is about fifteen minutes walk from the Hartsfield-Jackson international airport in Atlanta. 208 full time faculties besides 356 regular staff serve the campus. Emphasis on Music and Games An instructional site since 1991, Spivey Hall of the Clayton State University is considered one of the best halls for concert in the entire world. Various types of music and musical instruments are presented by the hall. In addition, the university is also part of Division II NCAA Sports programs in different sports streams like basketball, tennis, soccer, golf, and cheerleading. Instructional Sites Instructional site of the university is maintained in Peachtree City. Its school of business as well as the college of health enjoys very high reputation throughout the state as well as the country and the world. Moreover the continuing education center named Harry S Downs overlooks the lake in the main campus and is the home to multiple language programs. Such programs include personal growth programs as well as the technical programs. In addition; the Downs Center also hosts multiple conference and stages many special events. Academic Streams Various streams of education are offered by the University that includes – Master of Arts in Business Administration; Master of Arts in Health Administration; Master of Science in Nursing; Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics; Master of Arts in teaching English; Master of Arts in Archival Studies; and Master of Arts in Mathematics. A couple of new programs have also been introduced that includes Master of Science in Psychology.
