When Deciding On Microwave Ovens
Did your microwave finally stop working? Perhaps it works, but it takes an hour to bake a potato. You may need to replace that old microwave with a new one. There will be many options, in which to choose. Do you wish to purchase a GE microwave? You may wish to look at other models also. There are two major types of microwaves. They are counter top and over the range models. You will some advantages to both of these types of ovens.
Eye level ovens
You can have the convenience of an eye level microwave. An over the range microwave will fit over the top of your cooking area. These models are often called OTR ovens. You can have microwave technology at your fingertips. This will also allow you to have more counter space for other appliances. Kitchen counter space is often at a premium. If you buy a counter top model, it may take up much of your available counter space.
It usually costs more to purchase an OTR microwave. Normal venting methods may not work. It may be necessary to buy a special venting kit. This can raise the price of the oven considerably. Do you have young cooks in the family? Maybe you are not very tall. This may present a problem. Not everyone may be able to reach an OTR oven.
Convection and microwave
You can purchase a microwave that has conventional and microwave technology. A convection microwave can be very handy, when preparing meals. It may make it easier in the kitchen. You can bake with energy efficiency. Use the oven to keep food warm, as you cook the rest of the meal. This will make all of your meal ready simultaneously. They can save you a lot of time in meal preparation. They cost considerably more than a normal microwave. However, you get a lot more functions and convenience.
Counter top microwaves
A countertop microwave will be inexpensive. You will be able to heat food and cook certain items. It will be at counter level. Shorter family members will be able to use the appliance.
You can move a counter top model any time that you wish. You may need to replace a fuse. A counter top model is easy to work on. It will be simple to clean also. If you already have a counter top model, it is much easier and cheaper to replace it with the same type.
New features
Modern microwaves are more powerful than in the past. They have many new features like automatic mode. Most of the microwaves have turntables. This heats and cooks the food more evenly.

When it is time to get a new microwave, you will have some decisions to make. OTR ovens offer convenience and save space. Counter top models are inexpensive and easy to reach. Some models offer convection and microwave cooking. Take your time and enjoy your new oven.
