Oval Baking

How can I tell if a dish is safe to use in the oven{not microwave}> It dosen’t say on it if it is oven-proof.?
I bought two small oval dishes,8x5x2 ins. they “look” like baking dishes but there is no indication as to what they can be used for.They are thick and heavy and used for serving when I first got them but are the perfect size for a small cobbler or casserole.
