Why are the salad forks shaped like this?
I recently purchased Oneida Satin Sand Dune flatware set.
The left prong tip of the salad forks is an unpleasand surprise for me. At first I thought it was a defect before I found this picture.

Mine is not as smooth or nice looking, but has a simlar design.
My question is, why don’t they have the right prong have the similar shape?
That shape on the left prong is standard for a salad fork.
Essentially, its purpose is for “spearing” a difficult bit of salad green or salad veggie. It can also be used to (rather surreptitiously) cut a piece of lettuce that is too large to be “bite-sized” (as all salad ingredients should “correctly” be!)
Fussy, fussy, fussy, huh?
I spent way too many years working in fine dining, and I’ve learned that place-settiings and flatware can be a whole lot more complicated than they need to be!
The shape of the leftmost tine on your salad fork is “correct” and is an indicator that you’ve bought a set of quality flatware.
Many cheaper sets will include a salad fork with a shorter set of tines, but the salad fork will not have the “prong” on the left. Oneida is a good-quality brand. There is never (again, “correctly”) a prong on the far-right tine.
