Why has my cat started tipping over his water bowl? I put his small stainless steel bowl in a larger plastic b?
bowl in a larger plastic bowl to keep it from spilling on the floor. As soon as he flips the small bowl out onto the floor, he paws at the water left in the plastic bowl as if he were covering up after using the litter box. He will try to drink from faucets. He’s always licking at the sink and tub faucets. I tried a water bubbler, but it gets slimey after a day or two.
My male cat does that too. I got two very large bowls. One is ceramic and too heavy for him to flip. The other is plastic, but is wider at the base, thus keeping him from flipping it. It’s also placed on a carpet so he can’t push it around and splash water out.
He tends to paw at the base (much like his litter box digging) before drinking. I think it’s just his way of “claiming” the water dish as his.
