Some Important Tips On Maintaining Kitchen Safety For Your Kids
You and your little ones can have some fun time in the kitchen. Teaching and supervising them in whipping up dishes or snacks they like can be a great bonding moment. But the kitchen may also be a dangerous place for your kids. With those knife sets, breakable objects, hot ovens and other appliances, leaving them alone in there can be really hazardous.
Because of this, it’s important to keep your kitchen a safe place for everyone in the family, especially the children. This way, they can help out with preparing or cooking food, without potentially risking their safety. Continue reading to find out some ways in keeping your kitchen safe for your kids.
When helping your prepare scrumptious meals, ask them to keep from wearing long and baggy clothes. Such types of clothes can catch fire easily. Tell them to wear aprons each and every time, to keep them from being splashed with hot fluids like water or oil. Teach them the use of pot holders or mittens, but never let them work with hot pans or pots.
Make sure that items that are breakable and sharp are out of your kids’ reach. It’s important to store your glassware, henckels knife set, etc. In high places. Keep cords out of their reach as well. When they tug on the cord of your 4 cup coffee maker or any other appliance, it may fall on them.
Ensure that you get rid of water, oil and other liquid spills on the kitchen floor. Some serious injuries may result from your little ones slipping on the floor. A dry rag or mop should be handy at all times. Jot down emergency numbers and place them by the telephone. If they’re old enough, teach your children how to dial 911 when emergencies arise.
