collared shirts get curly after hang dry will a steamer work as good as an iron?
i notice when i wash and hang dry my son’s collared shirt’s the collared park is very curly. i cant dry them because they shrink. so i usually dry them for a few seconds then hang dry it. i wanted to know will a steam iron work as well as a regular iron? like will it work on the collared part of the shirt?
I have found that the steamers provide poor results on a lot of fabrics. They’re good for silky tops and light weight things with just a few wrinkles in but worthless for collars, cuffs, waistbands, putting creases in things and so forth.
To get something to lay flat you have to apply pressure and you don’t do that with a steamer. Better solution is to get a good iron that can double as a steamer. I have a Shark iron that has the steam power to do either task. It’s light and heats up quickly.
And you can try finger pressing the shirts when damp. Take your fingers and smooth, press, pull the collars into shape and see if that helps.
