How long will it take for guppy fry to grow to regular size?
I want to breed guppies just as feeder fish. And how many do I buy? I will put the guppies in a 10 gallon tank with a filter and heater. I was planning on buying 3 females and 3 males and heavily planting the breeding aquarium. Also, how long will it take until the guppy fry will grow to about 1 inch?
You may want another 10 gallon to separate the males and females after a while, because it’ll be baby city! No joke. Keep the temperature high, at around, 76-80 degrees Fahrenheit, for both the babies and to get the adults in a mating mood. 
Instead, get 2 females and 1 male. Trust me, it’s a much wiser choice because after they mate, you’ll have tons of babies to add to your tank. The rule for guppies is 2-3 females per 1 male, in order to establish a correct pecking order, because those males will harass the other females to the point of death. If you give the babies proper health and food, they will generally reach their full growth in approximately 6 months. It may be a little less, though, because my first batch of babies (born Feb. 2, 2011)are about 88 days old and are already about 3/4 or 2/4 an inch. I feed mine regular flake that are crushed, crushed sun dried baby shrimp, and crushed granules mixed together. It’s kinda like a fruit salad. (Yum….for fish!) Anyways, it’s good for them and it drives them into a hard core feeding frenzy. So I’d say 3-6 months. Maybe my babies a mutants, but that’s how big they are! But seriously, you should get a “bonus” tank to separate all the females from the males, vise versa, or just separate the babies.
