Rice cookers are designed to be used in the kitchen. In smaller houses or apartments, you may need to use them elsewhere. Be careful when setting them on something like a dining room furniture set. Always place a hot pad or mat down first.
Most cookers come with cooking pans that are non-stick. Modern day non-stick surfaces are durable. However, it is not a good idea to be too hard on them. You would not want to put a kitchen hand mixer inside your pan or cooker.
Steaming vegetables
You might get a steamer with your rice cooker. When you shop for cookers, check for ones with steamer functions. This will increase their usefulness. The Zojirushi rice cooker is a good example. This six-cup cooker is also a steamer. It has no-stick pan, which is removable. It is easy to clean.
Its steam tray is made from stainless steel. It is a separate part of the cooker. When your food is done, the cooker will start the warming function. There is no lid raising, to peek at the food. The lid is transparent glass. Its handles are designed to remain cool to your touch. You get a removable power cord, measuring cup, and spatula with the unit.
You will be able to fix many recipes with your cooker. Recipes like jambalaya and oatmeal are possible. You can make many rice dishes also. Search online for recipes for rice cookers. You will find many recipes.
