why are wood, glass, plastics, and ordinary tin cans not used as gas storage?
Gases are generally stored under high pressure, to reduce the volume of space needed to store them. The container needs to be able to withstand the high pressure of the gas inside, which is why they have to be heavy duty metal cylinders.
